FYI: Rumors Abound! Pandora News, Tidbits, and Other Odds and Ends.

Hello all and welcome to August’s first blog post! I don’t really know how else to preface this post but I will begin by stating a disclaimer and I will put it in all caps and bold so that everyone reads this: PLEASE TAKE THIS WITH A GRAIN OF SALT, AS PANDORA HAS BEEN KNOWN IN THE PAST TO CHANGE THEIR MINDS SO THINGS CAN CHANGE AT ANY MOMENT. THESE ARE RUMORS AND NOT CONFIRMED BITS OF INFORMATION.

Brand Relaunch

OK, now that I have that out of the way, let me start by stating that the much discussed brand relaunch is scheduled for August 29th. I’m not exactly sure what this means, it’s supposed to be a refresh of what Pandora is all about, and it even includes a logo change. I had heard that the crowned O logo will be rounder, and well I got to see it and I’m going to be honest, I don’t love it. Of course I don’t have any pictures so this mock up I made in Photoshop is similar to what I saw:

Notice the crown is different as well as the more rounded O. It’s not a huge change, and I am not one to like change, I like things to stay the way they are LOL, so of course I don’t like it.  I think it looks generic, and I like the more oval O as to me it’s more classic. However I know that a lot of companies change their logos over time, so I guess Pandora thought it was time for them to also make the change. Also the font Pandora has used for a long time will also be changing to a more Arial type of font I think or is it Sans Seriff?? I don’t know. I started to do some research on the evolution of the Pandora logo and this is what I found:

Pandora logo back in 2004, rounder font, no crown over the O. I feel like this is what the newer logo font will look like at the official unveiling. Note the more rounded O here.

Pandora logo in 2006. We have the more familiar font they are currently using now, still no crown over the logo.

The current Pandora logo, finalized in 2008.

Again I’m not too sure what this brand refresh is all about it. I believe they are going to start targeting a younger audience, but that is really all I know. It will be interesting to see what else happens during this brand relaunch.

September Promo Cancelled?!?!?

I heard this through the grapevine….again take with a grain of salt. I have no idea if this is true, but the people I spoke to seemed 90% sure that the September Buy More Save More Promo is cancelled. They also told me that the current sale going on right now, the Spend $100 take off $25 will be the last official sale before Christmas! They will have smaller promos or GWP until November, but this is it. I don’t know how to feel about this. I’ve been collecting Pandora since 2007 or 2008, and this will be the first time that I know of, that Pandora will not have a promo in September. The promos (before they went crazy with sales) were always in March and September, so for them to skip the promo next month is crazy to me!

Pulse Offers

And speaking of smaller sales, what I did hear is that they will be rolling out these offers called Pulse Offers. I don’t know if this is happening throughout the USA or just my local stores (because that is where I get most of my info) but I hear that at least at my local store they will be testing out these offers starting August 15th.

  • From August 15-19, you will be able to take an additional 20% off last chance items with any full price purchase.
  • From August 22-26, take an additional 10% off last chance items.
  • From September 12-16, take an additional 15% off last chance items.
  • From September 26-30, take an additional 20% off last chance items when you buy two or more.

At this point, unless they retire even more items, I don’t plan on participating in any of these pulse offers because I think I’ve gotten everything I want that has been retired. There are a couple of items still but they are still priced too high so I will wait for them to be further discounted before I purchase through an outlet.

That’s all the  news I heard for now. What do you think of the relaunch? Do you think Pandora will really skip the big promotion that was scheduled for September? Are you disappointed if this is true? Do you plan on purchasing during the pulse offers if they are available in your area? Let me know in the comments!

I agree with you…why do they have to change their logo? 😂 I like the way the 0 was! If it’s true they are not having the September sale I better reconsider the present sale which I was intending to skip.

    • Jahndra says:

Yes I know me too! Well my concern is what if they say they are not doing the September promo, but then at the last minute decide they do want to do it? I don’t want people to spend their money now when a better deal can come around you know what I mean? I dont’ mind because no matter what I’m going to buy LOL, but not everyone is like me.

  2. Pandora Girl says:

Pandora did say they were cutting back with sales and promos, but I haven’t seen this happening yet. What if they are telling us there won’t be many sales and promos just to get us to spend more everytime there’s a sale, because we think it could be the last! 😂

  3. Elita says:

They’ve done so many little things all year long it’s really hard to follow what their actual concept/image is at this point. They want to do fewer sales so they become more of a ‘luxury’ brand… But then they’re doing pulse sales? They want a more stable image in the jewelry market.. but they’re after a younger market who prefer fast fashion? What are they trying to do?? Lol. The original fan base is pretty much gone, that’s for sure… I’ve been collecting since 2004 and I think I’m pretty much done 🙁

    • Jahndra says:

I know what you mean, they want to be considered a luxury brand but then they turn and start catering to teenagers who have no money? LOL I’ve always believed they should offer a luxury line within the Pandora line of higher end items that have real gemstones and gold, and that way cater to everyone, but nope, they decided to start plating their jewelry. No thanks.

      • Elita says:

Right!! I loved when they had their gemstones and two tone!! I really wonder who is making the decisions up there in their big office haha. I really thought things would turn around this year but they keep churning out strange seasonal items. Not a huge fan of the “theme” concepts like for Lion King and such either.

I actually like the new logo. Cleaner and more modern. Like you I participate to some extent in all the sales. So I’m buying a few things in this one. If there is a buy more, save more in September I will be buying in that one too. Traditionally I do Christmas shopping in the September sale. So if they don’t have it I will shop the next Rue La La boutique instead since it has so many newly retired items now. Most of my Christmas wish lists from the ladies on my Santa list include several retired items. So I’m set either way. I’m looking forward to having a catalog again with the Fall release. We will see what the relaunch entails. I have been pleasantly surprised by some of the items in the recent collections. I have been unpleasantly surprised by some of the price increases. They have stated a desire to retain collectors. I’m hoping the relaunch reflects that intent.

    • Jahndra says:

That’s a pretty good plan. I’m with you when it comes to buying a little with every sale, and you’re right, if they don’t have any sales in September, I’ll go with RUe la la or the outlets since what I’m buying primarily is older, retired things anyway. I always put the new stuff on the back burner and I am kept busy hunting for the older retired things, the newer stuff can wait I always say!

There have been rumors that they might bring back the catalogs since a lot of customers complained, but I dont’ see them trying to retain their older collectors base. But who knows, like yousaid, we shall see.

Thank you so much for the info. Jahndra!
Yeah, not sounding good! I like the O the way it was too. It really looks good as a charm. The new one will not, it looks much more discrete and simplified.
As for the refresh/relaunch changes. I think we have already been seeing the start of it for the last year or more. They have been saying, Out with the old, in with the new, for a while now! They are just making it official. All I can think is, enjoy and hold dear, your beautiful retired oxidized two-toned pieces!
The way I see their new kind of sales is this; they will soon be done getting rid of all the beloved old stock, only currently releasing collections will be available, so these incentives are to force their new stuff to sell. I think they are creating a very fast stock turnover situation, where last season’s items are clearanced out ASAP. And with all the style changes lately, I only like a couple of pieces from each new collection release. So, I guess the big buy more sales wont even be needed anyway. Gone are the days of true collecting 😢.

  6. Jahndra says:

Couldn’t agree with you more! You said it perfectly when you said the are creating a very fast stock turnover! THe thing is, I don’t think it’s working, they stuff that’s getting retired is ok, no must haves and if they did have must haves they are already long gone! I’m very curious to see what will happen later on in the month when the relaunch is official. But yes, long gone are the days of true collecting.

  7. Heather S. says:

Hi Jahndra or should I say the Nancy Drew of Pandora? 😉
Rather fascinating post and responses. First, I like the softer O the new one
reminds me of the ” Oh No” expression from Mr. Bill on Saturday Night Live.
I hope they keep the September by more and save sale. The $25 off of $100 is okay
but I tend to go for the higher price point with buy more & save. Items seem to hit
Rue La La so fast I am almost tempted just to wait until they end up there. Okay, I can’t
do that, who am I kidding! Seriously though it is a thought. I will wait to see what happens in
September or hold out until Xmas. Since I am in this for the Disney charms I would rather have
my money readily available for the Park Exclusives on shopdisney. I have yet to figure out when they have sales and
how long a charm remains available so I buy right away. I am still kicking myself for missing out on the pink enamel Mickey
and the pearl castle. I just picked up the retired peace, heart, Mickey and the new ticket charm.

Do you get a better deal at the outlet stores or rue? Or are they about the same price? I live 2 hours from the nearest one.

    Keep keeping us updated!
    Have a great Sunday.
    Heather

    • Jahndra says:

LOL You literally made me laugh out loud! I really appreciate it! And I’ll own it, the Nancy Drew of Pandora LOL! Honestly I think the outlet prices are better only when they are having a sale, because then it’s worth it to get all of the savings. If no sale, then go with Rue la la. Or you could always call and ask them what the price on an item is and if rue la la has the same item. Compare the prices with the shipping as well and then see. You are very lucky to have an outlet that close. Well not really jay close, two hours away is still a drive, but better than 8 hours to my closest one lol.

And you are very correct, Pandora is retiring so fast it might pay to just wait for Rue right? Also couldn’t agree with you more with Mr. Bill!!!! oh noooooooooo LOL!!!

  8. Olga says:

All new changes makes me sad. New logo maybe modern, but it’s not unique, like the crown one. In my country allways less promos then all other counries and september promo/sale comes in october or even november, so i think they just skip it in here.
The othe sad thing. I just bought a ring from pandora’s recently collection and it’s so thin and lightweight (especially to compare with old one like 190609), new charms looses threding and weight, but the price going higher and higher. I look at new collection and don’t want to buy anything at all, I better buy a gold charm from other brand for the same price as pandora’s new silver charms.

    • Jahndra says:

Agree with you Olga, the quality isn’t what it used to be. I bought a simple Pandora pearl band ring from a friend, and when I received it, I was so surprised at how heavy it was compared to the rings now. Same thing with the charms, I know what you mean. Yes it’s very sad about the promos, I still can’t believe they won’t be having the September promo!

  9. DebbieJ says:

I really love your posts, thank you for all the information! It is so hard to get any previews or anything interesting about Pandora nowadays. I have also been collecting Pandora for about eight years now and have lots of beautiful bracelets but am pretty much finished with the new stuff, because I like real silver and gold and gem stones, I don’t mind a bit of CZ but never plated metals, its just not worth the price for fun costume jewellery. I now mostly buy older retired charms, especially two tones. I feel quite sad that Pandora has left us behind – surely we were the ones who gave them all their profits? If I could give them any advice on their relaunch, I would say build the brand for your original collectors as well as the younger clients you want to attract – as you said earlier, Jahndra, have a high end collection as well as a cheap and cheerful plated range. (Oh, and you can throw all the “Instagram influencers” you like at the younger range – I have no idea who any of them are and I don’t care what they wear!) Give us back our previews and stop being so controlling, it stops it being fun. Give us regular promotions we can look forward to. Stop flooding the market with too many low quality items at once, which are all discounted within months anyway. Give us a fewer, better quality beautiful charms at a time. Please give us back the catalogues which are the only way we can see everything that is in each collection! I really loved the catalogues, and looked forward to each new one coming out, I wouldn’t even mind paying for them. Sorry for my long rant, I just feel so disappointed at the way Pandora has gone!

      Same with me.

Without previews and catalogues where is the point? I used to enjoy planning my purchases, to look forward next collection, often browsing catalogues. And now? So sad, so boring. I feel disappointed also.

  10. Jahndra says:

Thank you Debbie, I really appreciate the support! I used to feel like no one read my posts, but now so many people including yourself are commenting, makes me feel it’s worthwhile now! Agree with you Debbie 100%. With each collection that comes out, I feel like there are less and less charms that I put on my wish list, which is kind of a good thing, and I find myself hunting down the older items as well.

LOL I’m reading your comment and I started busting out laughing when you say you have no idea who these IG influencers are, I also have no idea who these people are. Right now the person du jour is Shakira, at least I know who she is LOL.

WOW well said Debbie, I would like to second the previews, the regular promotions, the flooding the market with lower quality items, the catalogs, amen to all that sister, well said, well said!!

Don’t worry about the rant, I’ve been feeling like you for a couple of years now and I almost feel like I’m the only one, (at least the only blogger) who likes to tell it like it is. Everything you said was on pointe, this is a safe zone so rant away!

    • Anonymous Girl says:

Hey Jahndra I just wanted to comment to say Ive been following your blog for a couple of years now and always check at least once a week to see if you had a new post! (One of your quiet followers haha) I used to love seeing your reviews and little tidbits ( and morapandora too but I think she is gone now 🙁 I hope you never stop! And your videos were fun too, you always had a nice soft voice and sounded like a nice friend to have and share charm info with 🙂

      • Jahndra says:

aw you just made me smile sweetie, thank you so much for this comment! So sweet of you to check on my blog once a week to see what’s new. I’m sorry I’ve not been as active as I used to be here, but I am still here LOL don’t you worry! If for any reason I decided to leave, I would not leave you all hanging like charms addict or mora pandora have done in the past. Unless the reason was overpowering somehow, but I would let you all know I was leaving and why. And yes I miss my reviewes too, when I made the latest one I had no idea it had been more than a year since I had reviewed anything. Honestly, it does require more work I think to make a blog post, but also the reason is partly because nothing Pandora has come out really interests me that much you know what I mean? I used to review pieces that I thought were cool or different, or pieces that I liked myself, but lately I haven’t been loving what Pandora has come out with.

That doesnt’ mean I’m done reviewing, not by a long shot! I would encourage you to still check up on me because you never know what I’m going to post next LOL. Also there is an email subscribe box down below that you can put your email into and everytime there’s s new post you will receive the email! And I’m still making videos, I just don’t post them here on the blog anymore because a alot of people are strictly here for the blog and not youtube vidoes, but if you haven’t subscribed to my channel I suggest you do so so you don’t miss anything there either! THank you once again, I loved your comment!~ XOXO
