Review: Protect from X By Trollbeads

Today brings a review on the X By Trollbeads link called Protect.  I’m not sure why but I keep calling it protection instead of Protect.  I have to say right off the bat I love it, it’s a good solid piece of silver and I’m pleasantly surprised by the construction of the link. It looks like it has no beginning and no end, and I like  that it’s different on the front and the back.

First Impression:

So the link measures approximately 1 1/8 inches (or 28 mm). The link looks like it was constructed from one long piece of silver, like a Celtic knot.  Actually, I did some research and found out that Celtic shield knots represented protection and the wearer would be protected not just in battle but from sickness and bad omens. Knots of this style have also been found in Chinese culture as well as in the Buddhist religion. I don’t believe in any of that, I just like the esthetic of it. I couldn’t find anything that looked exactly like the link, but I can see the inspiration for it.

Here is the link compared to the Lover’s Bond and DNA:

Review:

It is slightly smaller than the Lover’s Bond but not by much, it’s closer in size to DNA. I always like to compare other links to the Lover’s Bond because I like to use it as a standard.  It’s my favorite piece by X and I use it almost always as a focal point.  That’s probably why I have it both in silver and bronze.

Here it is incorporated into a bracelet:

In Conclusion:

I like the Protect link, it’s well constructed, the meaning behind it has been executed very effectively, (although that is negligible for me) and overall it’s a good piece to own.  I still wish the price was around $63 rather than $72 but of course that is just my opinion.  I am having a hard time finding a good place for it on the bracelet that I’m currently working on, but that just means I have to buy more X 😉
