Review: Pandora Silver Sliding Bracelet

Today’s post will actually be a review, can you believe it! It’s been a while, and I mean a long while LOL. I realize I only review items that I like, or that are so un-Pandora that I need to review in order to let you all know what’s what, so let’s begin.

First Impression:

At first impression I didn’t know what to think about this bracelet. I know they said they were going to try to be more innovative and were going to introduce different concepts several times a year, so I guess this is one of those new concepts. I couldn’t quite figure out how the closing mechanism (i.e. the slider to adjust) attached to the bracelet and I’m pleased to report that once I started playing with it, it was obvious. Please excuse my photos as it’s difficult to photograph under their very bright lights, so these aren’t the best quality.

Review:

The bracelet as one can see is fully adjustable to any wrist, simply extend the ball slider all the way down and insert your hand through the gap:

At first, I thought the way the smaller snake chains attached to the main bracelet were through magnets and that they just snapped on. They are actually attached by a small little “switch” or lever and by pressing it in, it releases the sliders.

On the above picture, I tried to zoom in as best I could to show the little lever. Once you press this in, it releases the bracelet and will then let you put charms on.

I then decided to check the inside on the clasping mechanism and was very surprised to see this:

There’s only a very small spring holding the bracelet together, this did not give me much confidence. I thought it was a stronger mechanism that would hold everything together, not just a tiny spring. For me, one big tug and the whole thing can fall apart.

I then decided to try it on, and I think I accidentally deleted the shot where I’m actually modeling it, but this bracelet could be another option to the open bangle bracelet, as in you can wear your charms on top, instead of the charms gravitating to the bottom of the bracelet. One thing I noticed though which bothered me:

I think I’ve illustrated the point sufficiently, the stiffness of the new snake chain makes it jut out somehow, and although it bothers me, I assume that with time it will break in and relax so that this won’t happen anymore. If anyone out there buys this, I would love an update on whether the bracelet relaxes over time so that this no longer happens.

Another thing I would like to point out, is that this bracelet has no threads. It does however have a lip so that you could wear clips on it:

Another thing I’d like to point out, is that the bottom of the sliding chains have a very cute cubic zirconia accent on them.

In Conclusion:

This bracelet is also available in the Pandora Shine version and Pandora Rose. One thing I completely forgot to illustrate is that since the clasp is detachable, you can mix metals and make these bracelets two-toned! The silver version retails at $65, the Shine version at $175, and the Rose version at $150. I think for now I will pass on this bracelet, but it doesn’t mean I’m may not change my mind in the future. What do you think of this bracelet? Do you like the new style? Will this bracelet make it home with you?

I purchased this for my partner. Chose the sliding bracelet option for it’s versitility in fitting various wrist sizes with the slide fit. She as worn it 5 times to work this week and today. She was very pleased with the gift and purchased her first charm for it yesterday. Unfortunately whilst removing it one of the one of the sliding chains just broke. Not sure why! Maybe it had been tried on a lot in store. The charm was put on in store yesterday. So not sure if it’s a quality issue etc.

Hi, yesterday I purchased the silver sliding bracelet. It looks gorgeous with my new charms but I’m really worried the end pieces could come off and I would lose my bracelet. They said at the store no one has complained about this issue. I know Emily (fashionstoryteller) wears the leather one. Have you decided to give it a try?

I have, it’s on my wish list so I will let you all know what I think about it whenever I do end up getting it. I am worried about the same thing, but I’ve played with one at the store and it seems secure enough. I do like how all the charms sit on top of the bracelet, but for that matter I have the open bangle that does the same thing and it’s pretty comfortable. I also worry about how the bolo tie part sticks out, I’m hoping once it relaxes that won’t be an issue anymore.

Hi ladies, My husband bought me the bracelet for my birthday in May. I think the bracelet is pretty and I do like it.

However, over time the sliding clasp which loosens and tightens the bracelet has over the last 5 month’s got loose….does that make sense?!?!?! Like I tighten it in the morning and within 2 hours it’s loosened up and half way down my arm!!! I don’t think it would fall off as I’d feel it but you never know! I wish he had bought me just the standard one instead of this to be honest !

I love the look of the sliding bracelet and didn’t have a problem, but I was too worried when I wore it. I kept thinking it may break, and I would lose my charms. 😂 So, yesterday I exchanged it for the open bangle.

You know I went back to the store and tried it on again, I just can’t get used to the part where it pokes out!! And the sample I tried on had a kink in it from where people have tried it on which turned me off to it further so I think I’m a no on it.

Thank you so much for this post! I couldn’t for the life of me figure out how to get the clasp off to add charms and you illustrated it perfectly. Very helpful.

Sorry for the late reply! I’m so glad this review was able to help you! That’s what I do what I do! XOXO

I got one for Christmas and it broke. I received a replacement with no problems. However having only had this for a few months the slider has no resistance and due to the weight if the charms it falls to its full dimension resulting in it falling off my wrist. I have only just found it lying at the bus stop. How fortunate I was to find it. Going to the shop tomorrow to see what they suggest

OH my! I keep hearing about incidents like yours! I have a sliding bracelet now and will try to one: not overload it with charms, and two: only wear it once in awhile so that the clasp doesn’t slide around like you said yours did. Thanks for your feedback, it is very helpful!

    • Jahndra says:

Sorry to hear that is happening. I heard the same thing, I own the star one and I hardly wear it but I have heard of this bracelet not keeping closed, have you tried returning it to the store?

I’m glad I found your review. I was thinking of making this my first charm bracelet purchase but after hearing your thoughts and everyone’s issues with it, I’ll get something different.

    • Jahndra says:

So glad I was able to help you! And so sorry I just now saw your comment, yes unfortunately it’s a good concept but the execution is lacking. After many days of wearing this bracelet the pull clasp will eventually wear out and start sliding down on it’s own which means you could possible lose your entire bracelet. If you do see this comment I wonder, what bracelet did you end up getting instead?

    • Jahndra says:

Unfortunately I don’t think there is anything you can do to remedy the chain being too long. That is just the look of the chain, sorry.

Thank you for the instruction and great photos! My coworker couldn’t figure out how to unclasp the bracelet and this showed up how 🙂
