FYI: Pandora Buy More Save More Event Coming in March and Pandora Shine

Today’s post brings some news albeit a bit vague but news nonetheless and that is the Buy More Save More (or Spend More Save More, they are pretty much interchangeable) event is coming back in March. I’m a bit sketchy on the exact date, but I think it might start March 19th. I still don’t know how long the event is running for or what the discount will be yet, but as always I will update my blog once I know more.

Also, there is another event that will be taking place before the BMSM event and that is the unveiling of the new Pandora Shine line. If you haven’t heard about this new line or are unfamiliar with it, let me enlighten you! The new Pandora Shine line of jewelry will contain everything from chokers to rings, necklaces, pendants, and charms. I don’t seem to recall at the moment if earrings are also included. Pandora Shine is a new type of jewelry that has a sterling silver core, which is then plated with a layer of palladium, which is then plated with an extra thick layer of 18ct gold. Palladium is a relative of platinum, it’s supposed to remain white and never tarnish. I have VERY mixed feelings about Pandora Shine. On one hand I feel this is cheapening the brand, on the other it will offer a more affordable look of gold to younger and more conservative customers.

I haven’t decided if I will ever be buying Shine yet. I bought Pandora Rose because it’s advertised as keeping its pink color even when the plating wears off. In the case of Shine, I haven’t heard the same. I feel like eventually the gold will rub off and I will be left with a silver colored piece of jewelry that I overspent on. If perhaps they mixed the palladium with some gold in order to give it a nice gold color that will remain after the plating wears off, well then it might be more worth my while.

What are your thoughts on this? Everyone I’ve talked to about Shine does not seem to like the idea at all. I know it’s change and change takes time to get used to, perhaps I will come around, but in the meantime, I’m going to do my very best to pick up all the leftover gold jewelry I can as I fear this is the beginning of the end for true Pandora gold.
