FYI: Pandora Back to School Themed Charms

Today’s post will unveil Pandora’s latest foray into the back to school theme. I have to say in all the years I’ve been collecting Pandora, this is the first time I can remember that specific charms for back to school have been designed and manufactured.

I know I don’t usually post on Friday’s but I couldn’t wait to showcase these charms. Pandora has really been taking advantage of their Unforgettable Moment charm, first with their MLB and NFL themed charms, then their travel destinations charms, and now these:

What do we think of these charms? Do we like them? I have mixed feelings about them. They are cute, but somehow I feel if I were the parent of a little boy, I would somehow feel excluded from collecting these, is that a strange way to feel? Is it because they’re pink?

This is the only image I could capture, didn’t think to take individual pics of each charm, sorry about that, so first up we have the little backpack as we say here in the US. Next we have the heart charm with the inscribed “To teach is to love,” complete with little apple detail, and finally we have the Pandora University dangle which I do have to say is very cute. I do like all of these charms but I feel not being a parent, and having graduated college for awhile now, that these charms are not for me.

I am surprised that 1. Pandora is focusing on back to school, by having their current promotion, 2. That they released these charms without any forewarning and 3. That they seem to be having constant promotions now, it’s hard to keep up.  I unfortunately do not have anymore information such as prices or whether these charms are limited edition, once I have that information I will update this post.

UPDATE: I have prices now for these charms, the Pandora U charm retails for $60, the Pandora 2018 Backpack is also $60, and the “To Teach is to Love” Heart charm is $45.

Feel free to comment below or on my Facebook page, let me know what you think of these charms!

It crossed my mind that maybe they don’t have a blue “version” because the charms are intended for kids (girls) and not for their moms.. would it make any sense?.. Thanks for this little review!

    • Yes that makes sense! But how many little girls have a pandora bracelet? Most of them wouldn’t be able to fit even the smallest bracelet I think? Or maybe that’s the point, Pandora is encouraging mom’s to start them young lol.

I suspect so, yes 😀 Tricky Pandora! Haha) Something like this would work for middle to high school girls i guess. Looking at some designs that Pandora came up with recently (like summer enamels), i feel like they have younger ppl in mind more than us dinosaurs lol

Yes, I think they are trying to hit a significantly younger audience. Their core audience is probably in their late 30s and up. The pre autumn collection was a bunch of charms they thought would appeal to younger folks. They even have lower price points (pave for $50).

I find these charms very odd. I think they are for mothers, to mark the occasion of their kids going back to school. They have so overused this charm for everything that I barely notice it any more. And I find the constant promos to be too much also. Enough already, pandora!

    • I kind of agree with you there, especially the part where pandora is targeting mothers to mark the occasion, however I think they should’ve introduced either a more neutral color like green or make a blue backpack as well. As for the constant promos I guess I don’t mind, but at least make them good promos. This necklace thing does not appeal to me at all!
