Review: Trollbeads Earring Hooks

On today’s post I wanted to talk about the Trollbeads earring hooks because back in October of last year aside from the other Trollbeads I received as a birthday gift, I also received the Hanging Hydrangea earrings which I fell in love with. I am not a big earring girl, I don’t wear them that often, what with my long hair one can’t even notice I’m wearing earrings unless I have my hair up which is not too common when I go out. I usually wear my hair up when I’m working around the house but then no one would see the earrings so what’s the point right? 😉

These earrings stand out to me because as an avid bead collector I start to forget which beads I got for what occasion, that’s one reason I like my YouTube videos, it helps chronicle what beads I got when and it helps me remember. These were not part of the videos because like I said they stood out for me as part of my birthday gifts. This post however will not be reviewing the actual Hydrangeas but the hooks. When I saw these in the store, they called out to me because the store owner had them showcased with studs through the cores instead of using the Trollbeads hooks, I didn’t even realize they were missing the hooks because I liked how they looked with the studs. The shop owner also let me know I could change out the studs to any other studs I wanted and that sold it for me. It wasn’t until later on I realized these earrings were designed to work with the hooks just like all other Trollbeads earrings.

First Impression:

There’s not much to say here, I have never seen these in real life so I didn’t hesitate to order them online since they were only $25. Upon receiving them I liked the shape of them, and they felt pretty sturdy for being slight earring hooks.

Review:

Unfortunately the feeling didn’t last as when I placed the earring dangles onto the hooks, I was left with this:

I thought when putting the earrings onto the hooks that they would sit upright, but they don’t, they kind of droop a little as you can see. I guess this is the look, this is how they are supposed to look like? Can anyone tell me because this is my first experience with Trollbeads earrings. Maybe because I have been wearing them as studs I got the wrong impression and I’m not giving them a fair chance? It looks like the Hydrangeas wilted or something. In any case, I don’t like how they ended up looking so I plan on returning the hooks. Don’t worry, I sterilized them before returning them! I wouldn’t want someone to try something on then return them dirty so I don’t do that either!

In Conclusion:

Perhaps there are better Trollbeads earrings out there that would better fit the hooks, I know that browsing online and checking out their many styles I’ve been tempted now to try out more Trollbeads earrings, however know I see them more as studs instead of dangly earrings.  The nice thing is I can switch out the studs, the ones I’m wearing now are lab created opal set in sterling silver. I could always do gold studs, or even diamond studs! Who knows, the possibilities are endless!

I hope you’ve enjoyed this review! Maybe later on I’ll find the perfect pair of earrings that will look adequate on the hooks, does anyone own Trollbeads earrings? Which do you own and how do you wear them?

That’s too bad that the hooks didn’t work out with the hydrangea earrings 🙁 They look great with those opal studs, though.

I absolutely love my Trollbeads hooks! I use them primarily with the sun circle earrings and a pair of silver drops that I made. The only others that I have are the chalcedony earrings, which I don’t really like, but it’s the earrings, not the hooks I think.

My hooks seem to have the same shape as yours, but the sun circles and silver drops fit great and don’t droop. The chalcedony ones fit nicely too, I just don’t like the colour. The sun circles and drops are smaller, though, so maybe that makes a difference? I’ll see if I can get a decent picture of the sun circles in my ears. I have one on my Instagram feed from the summer, but it’s blurry.
