From the Box: Pandora XL Golden Star

Today on From the Box I will be taking out one of my all time favorite Pandora charms: the XL Golden Star. Now I love anything with stars, (I also like anything with hearts and feathers!) so when Pandora came out with this oh back in 2010 it was love at first sight. However it wasn’t until I saw the price tag of $295 that I thought well that’s that, I will never be able to own this bead. Thank goodness for Rue La La, now I have two of them! I do have to say though compared to the online catalog picture and the actual charm, the catalog picture makes the charm seem more rounded, it’s not as round IRL.

When I first bought this bead, I thought I would wear it strictly as a necklace. I used to wear this gem on a leather cord and had plans to buy two gold trinity spacers to go with it but I never got around to getting them yet. Then I bought another bead and I figured I would wear one as a necklace, and the other one on a bracelet.

If you’ve been here long enough you will know that I am hypersensitive about my jewelry. I don’t like getting it scuffed and dinged, my heart themed bracelet is pretty beat up as it is, and I realize I can’t always keep my jewelry pristine especially if I want to wear it, but I like to keep my charms as nice as I can. Having said this, I only wear my star themed bracelet rarely, because I use the Gold Star as a focal point, therefore if I rest my wrist on anything, the first thing that will make contact with a surface is this bead.

After I bought my second Golden Star, I figured I would make a star themed bracelet, but at first  found it hard to do as Pandora didn’t have a lot of star charms, and sorry but I still have a hard time shelling out $420 for the gold Starlight charm (it’s still on my wish list and I better decide quick if I want it before it’s officially gone, I don’t know if I’ll get a chance to snatch it whenever Rue La La carries it!).

Eventually I got the Stella bead (another favorite!) and the regular star charm, the one that looks more like a sunburst, you can see it here on the bracelet:

I already owned the black star muranos, so I figured I was well on my way to making this bracelet. Initially I was going to make it a black colored two toned bracelet, with the black fascinating muranos, but then the Fascinating Aventurescent came out and last years 2014 holiday charms came out and if you all remember this collection had plenty of star themed charms in it so I decided to change it to black and blue. I’ve yet to add the Fascinating Aventurescent beads, I will once I buy the Wishing Star and others to finally complete this bracelet. I have to say, I miss Pandora making the XL charms, they were fun.

I still haven’t gotten around to finishing this bracelet, still needs plenty of charms to fill it up, but I’m loving that center focal bead though.

I hope you’ve enjoyed spending some time with me, I love sharing my designs with you, if you would like to share your creations with me, post them on my Facebook wall, or tag me on Instagram and maybe I’ll repost you!

this charm keeps popping up at $80 on Rue La La… I keep wondering if i should get it!
it’s 2 months worth of bead budget for me, but it’s such a good deal…
