Brand Feature: My Waxing Poetic Collection

Today I’ll be talking about the jewelry line Waxing Poetic because they just came out with their new spring collection and I just have to say their new charms are just darling.  If you’re not already familiar with them, they are geared towards the more traditional charm bracelet type where you hook the charm onto a bracelet and it dangles, although I would say their charms can be used as pendants as well.  They are all sterling silver and brass, so if you are a lover of two toned jewelry, their collection might be right up your alley.

Now the charms don’t necessarily hook onto the bracelet using jump rings, although you could do that if you like, but they can be slipped onto their bangles just as is, without spacers, or you can buy their charm clips, which look like clasps but without the chain, where you just push the little lever in and insert the charms onto it, then slip the clip onto your bracelet.

You can find more ways to wear the charms if you go check out their website and go to accessories, you can also check out their bracelets which I think would look lovely even without charms. Some of their bracelets even have built in clips so that you can just slip the charms in and go.

I only have a couple of their charms, I ordered them last year and just love that I can express myself with these charms. Here is a quote from their website which I think alludes to their philosophy:

“We make things we love, and hope you like them too.

We believe that faith, risk, hope, and joy are inextricably bound, and never mutually exclusive. Adventure and routine are strange, and sometimes lovely, cousins. There is a way to write the lines in between all of us, and in our own small way, we want to make links. If we can make things to share, to pass in between, we can do more than we ever hoped – and then some.”

The way Waxing Poetic organizes their charms is in mini groups or mini collections I believe. For example, I believe they have a now retired mini collection called Proverbial Truths, and under this mini collection they had about four or five charms. Another example is their Favorite Accomplice collection, and Sterling Characters collection. I don’t know for a fact if Waxing Poetic also calls them collections, but I don’t have a better way to describe how they organize their lines so that’s what I’m calling them!

These are the charms I have for now:

I will go through them, giving a brief description of each one. We’ll start with the Proverbial Truths Praise More Worry Less:

I believe it’s supposed to look like a stained glass window, and it’s one of the first charms that I had to have because it spoke to me and it reminds me not to worry so much and to have faith. It retailed for $75 and it is all sterling silver with oxidation. I believe it is discontinued.

Next we have the Revelation Addenda Blessed and Grateful:

This charm is a bit misleading because although there are dimensions posted on the website, when you see it IRL you don’t expect it to be so small and petite. I also liked the sentiment of expressing my gratitude for the things that I have. It retails for $55, it is sterling silver with some brass detailing, and I believe it is being discontinued.

Next we have the Revelation Sidebar Cherish and Protect:

This one is the older sister to the Revelation Addenda, it is much larger, articulated and double sided, it makes a perfect pendant and charm as it will swivel on the articulation in order to see both sides. Again, the message on the charm appealed to me, it is sterling silver encapsulated with brass, and it retails for $88, also being discontinued.

And last but not least we come to the Sterling Characters Angel charm:

This charm is in a quatrefoil/cylindrical shape, it is also articulated as it has the words Insightful, Lyrical, Hopeful, and Joyous printed all around it, (I apologize, I didn’t realize how tarnished this charm was until after I had photographed it, it’s not usually this dirty!). I believe the collection has six other charms in it and I plan to get the Artist and Devout charms as well. This is sterling silver with brass on the bottom and top of the charm, retails for $86 and is also being discontinued.

That’s all for my collection for Waxing Poetic, as you can see it is pretty small, but I plan on growing the collection as time allows. I plan on saving to get one of the bracelets, the Ongoing Ballad is one of my favorites, but I might have to settle for the Stanza 3 clip bracelet.
