On today’s post we will be talking about Star Wars charms and other Geek Girl accessories because today is May the 4th! So may the 4th be with you! (snickers)
OK all silliness aside, today’s blog post just happens to fall on May 4th so I figured I would honor the date with some info on where you can purchase out of the ordinary and whimsical charms. Think Geek will be having a 20% off sale on all Star Wars items, and also you’ll get a free gift with a purchase of $20 or more, (nifty Star Wars pin). The sale will last until 11:59pm eastern time so I suggest you head over and check out their items. Now since all Star Wars merchandise will be on sale, this includes their Star Wars Jewelry as well! Unfortunately it is not sterling silver, however on the description of materials it states it’s implant grade stainless steel so it’s better than base metal right? I for one would not be purchasing the charms if they were base metal. Here are your selections:
I think my favorite is the storm trooper head because it’s a dead ringer to the original. You can tell immediately what it is and I think because it looks bottom heavy that this charm will tend to sit right side up like it’s supposed to. I think my least favorite is the Yoda head because it’s a dangle, so it looks creepy, like an actual severed head! On the non-dangle R2D2 charm I wish the core was smaller because it kind of affects the way the charm looks, a lot of the detail is missing from it because of the large core, is it just me? I think I prefer the dangle version of this charm.
It’s not a huge selection, but it’s a good one, it’s good to starter set I would think if you didn’t get all of the charms. Now if you are a purist and must have real sterling silver, I would suggest you check Etsy! Etsy has lots of sellers that hand make their charms, they use a variety of different metals, and you would be helping support small business. Here are a smattering of ones I found:
Now in my previous searches it seemed like there were more Etsy stores that sold Star Wars charms, however because it all depends on demand and because most of these charms are hand made, I know sometimes they are not available all the time. The above charms are from the Etsy store called Griffins Nest Jewelry owned by Sandy Martinez, go check her out, she has tons of other great stuff in her store like beautiful rings, earrings and more!
Well that’s it for this edition of Geek Girl charms, in the future I will feature other geek girl charms I come across. Will you be taking advantage of the Think Geek sale? How will you celebrate May the 4th?
