From The Box: My Pandora Story Q&A

Hi everyone! This post will be yet again another YouTube video post (oh what a surprise!) but it will also be a blogging post as I will expand on the questions that were asked in the video. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, read on!

A couple of weeks ago, a fellow YouTuber Emily from FashionStoryTeller made a Pandora Q&A video and tagged a bunch of other Pandora and jewelry related YouTubers to make a video relating their Pandora story, as in how did they get into collecting Pandora, etc. At first I wasn’t going to participate in the tag as I value my privacy very much and do not show my face in my videos, I thought it would be hard to relate my Pandora story without showing my face but in the end I pushed ahead and make the video anyway. There is a bit of a sneak peek at the beginning of my video, blink and you’ll miss it ;0)

Below I will give a more detailed answer to each of the questions, in case watching YouTube videos aren’t your thing:

How did you first hear of Pandora?

I first heard about Pandora while trolling Ebay back in 2006 or 2007. As I’m a big jewelry collector I would used to surf Ebay to see what rings or necklaces struck my fancy and I would buy them as back then the prices on Ebay were much better than at department stores. While doing that I came to several listings that were for “Trollbeads,” and I was like, ew why would I want to buy something with the word troll in it? I thought they were hideous and moved on! I eventually learned that these charms with these giant holes in them were called European style charms and fell into that rabbit hole of browsing through them until I came across an Ebay seller called KingsmanOpal. They made these gorgeous large cored charms with opal inlay and I became obsessed. The listings used to say Pandora in them, so I thought they were Pandora charms, I assume the seller meant they fit Pandora bracelets, I decided that I wanted a whole bracelet filled with these and started my collection. I initially had four of them, but gave away two as gifts, so I was left with two, I never got around to finishing that bracelet, it’s still a goal! Back in 2007 they were a bit more affordable than they are now. Since I had four of these charms, I was determined to wear them on a bracelet, and this is where Pandora came in. I waited until Christmas to ask for my first Pandora bracelet and I got it! I never meant to get more than this or to even get Pandora charms, but I think we all know what happened after that!

What was your first Pandora charm?

My lovely friend Fierce Zhai looked it up for me and it’s called Mother of Pearl Love Me charm. My husband gave it to me as an anniversary gift, among the other numerous Pandora gifts he’s given me through the years for our anniversary after this one. The memory is fuzzy, but I’m pretty sure this was the first one.

What was your first Pandora ring purchase?

My first ring purchase was the now retired Mi Amor ring. I bought it for my birthday a couple of months after my husband had bought me the Mi Amor charm or clip dangle I should say for another anniversary.

What were your first Pandora earrings?

Those would be the Stella studs, once again I received them as an anniversary gift LOL. I should disclose that Pandora used to only have two promotions a year, one in March and one in September, which happens to be the same month we got married. It was also the spend $100, get a free bracelet promo. It was very easy to make my anniversary gift a Pandora one since we liked to take advantage of the deal and get my free bracelet!

What was your first Pandora pendant or Necklace?

This question is a tricky one because I don’t remember too well. It could’ve possible been the Be My Valentine large and small heart pendants, or the small Stella pendant, or the Stella necklace.

What was your first completed bracelet?

My first officially completed bracelet was my hearts bracelet, but because I keep editing it, I’m actually still missing a dangle, but I still consider it my first completed bracelet. My husband used to travel for work and every time he came back, he would give me a heart charm, I used to not care for hearts, but he got me into them because of his thoughtful gifts. I used to wear this bracelet ALL THE TIME, until I started working on other bracelets, so it’s also my most bead up bracelet as well, but that’s ok, it’s because I love it a lot so I’m ok with the scuffs to a point.

What was your most expensive item or purchase?

The most expensive item I own is the gold Starlight charm, it cost over $400 and it was a Valentine’s Day gift from my husband. I ended up buying another one at a huge discount from Ebay because it was already pre-owned, and that one is on a bracelet. The one my husband gave me I only wear as a pendant so it’s as pristine as the day the gave it to me. My most expensive purchase was my first gold haul, I made a video about it last year where I bought three gold charms at once.

What is one retired item you would love to own?

This one is a tough question as there are a lot of things I feel I missed out on, but the one that comes to mind right now is the Elegant Sincerity necklace. I always liked it but always passed on it, now that’s it’s gone I wish I had gotten it.

What is one charm you would love Pandora to make?

I am a black belt in Taekwondo and although I’m not practicing it right now, it would be awesome to somehow make a charm that would represent that part of my life. It was a great time in my life when I was a teenager, carefree, and I had some great time with friends.

What was your best Pandora shopping experience?

My best shopping experience was when we were vacationing in Hawaii, Oahu to be exact for our ninth anniversary and after dinner my husband took me to the mall on the excuse that there was this amazing dessert place, and I’m thinking a dessert place at the mall? Well as I used the restroom, he sneaked over to the Pandora concept store and told all the sales associates that it was our wedding anniversary and to have them wish me a happy anniversary as I walked into the store. It was a very sweet surprise and I left the store with the Mi Amor clip dangle. That shopping experience has always stuck in my mind and heart.

And this concludes my Pandora story Q&A. The video is linked below if you rather watch all about it, if there are any other questions you would like to ask, do not hesitate to post them in the comment box below, on my YouTube channel or on Facebook! I hope to hear from you all soon!
