Hello everyone! I’m a bit late to this party but as you all probably know by now Pandora is having their first ever SALE! Pandora has always had events or promotions, but this is their first ever sale, at least in the United States and the first time that I can remember them having a sale since I first started collecting Pandora back in 2009.
Perhaps I’m exaggerating, but I found it odd that Pandora has resorted to having this type of sale. I know it’s more common in the UK and Australia to have sales but not in North America. So I started doing some research and came across some concerning news, Pandora stock prices have dramatically decreased since the beginning of this year. Based on the graphs below over the last 6 months Pandora’s price per share dropped from $930 to $629.
That is approximately a 32% decrease which is very concerning. According to multiple online sources, the drop could be attributed to a not so great first quarter, increase in store expansions and e-commerce (online shopping), although e-commerce only attributes to about 5% of earnings. Also to take into consideration is that the European markets like Italy, France and the UK are currently in a slump, the US market has maintained steady, and Australia is the only one showing that sales are up.
So what does this mean for Pandora? Is this the reason why they are having this sale? Pandora isn’t really commenting and one can only speculate as to what is going on. I guess I can’t say it’s because of the recent design changes because the American market has remained steady, but perhaps other countries aren’t too happy with those recent changes. I heard rumors that they are hiring and/or replacing their current designers in hopes to change things up.
But onto brighter and happier things! There’s a sale going on after all! The sale started June 15th, and the last day will be June 25th, that is ten whole days of savings! I have of course already splurged a great deal and I plan on making a second trip soon, so stay tuned for that mega haul video coming up! The sale is on certain selected items, but it includes charms, Essence, bracelets, earrings, and rings. It also includes Last Call items, (which will be retired soon) and current items. I suspect though that the items that are current will soon be discontinued, why else include them in this sale?
The sale goes like this, but one item and receive 30% off, buy two items and receive 40% off, and finally purchase three items and receive 50% off. There are over 300 items on sale so if I were you I would hurry in to see what’s left in stock!
So what do you think of all of this nonsense with Pandora’s stock? I tried the best I could to gather correct information, so if you find a mistake please let me know so I can update this post to correctly reflect the facts. I’m sure this is a minor hiccup and Pandora will get through it, markets go up and down, that is their nature. Do you plan on taking advantage of this amazing deal? Like I said, I already did and plan on round two soon, stay tuned for those videos coming up. Also a very kind YouTuber asked to see my updated Pandora collection and I plan on making those videos soon as well, especially now with this ongoing sale! Until next time Happy Hunting!
Rather than sending beads to Rue for the same discount, they are experimenting with doing the sales themselves so they can keep 100% of the profit. Pandora corporate is also buying up stores as franchisees retire and want to sell their businesses. They have over 30 corporate run stores now and are buying more. The plan is to keep as much in house as possible. And yes, the charms on sale are either retired or I’m sure will be on the next wave of retirement. Any true design changes in the jewelry will be at least a year away, as fall and probably spring 2018 are already set.
Wow that’s a lot of info, and makes perfect sense. So what you’re saying is perhaps stocks are low because of them buying up more stores? This is the expansion I was talking about? You are very knowledgeable!
The idea about edging out Rue is my own theory, but I think it’s likely the case. The slump in Europe is due to the fact that the European economies are a mess, with most countries in the European union doing poorly and with Brexit. The US economy is not great but holding on, so we have more discretionary income. Pandora is expanding their stores as you said, and I do know for a fact that they are buying out large franchisees. I wouldn’t count them out yet, though!
I don’t know anything about new designers, but I’m sure they will tweak their collections according to what is selling. They are retiring beads very quickly these days when they can’t move stock. I find their business practices very interesting. My favorite beads are still their muranos and the larger ones, like the radiant heart series. I do wish they would make some decorative silver beads, though. I really don’t miss the beads shaped like suitcases etc., though I do appreciate that people want more of this type.
You are very correct about the economies around the world, I hadn’t even thought of all that, very interesting, thank you so much for sharing!!
