Review: Trollbeads Rainbow of Luck Beads

Today I will be doing a review on the Trollbeads Rainbow of Luck charms. I realize I don’t do many reviews on Trollbeads and I think that it’s because since I tend to buy older beads from years ago, there’s no point in reviewing them as they are old news, however these charms are relatively new, they were only released last year in the Fall. I tend to play catch up and I’m usually about one or two collections behind when it comes to buying Trollbeads. It’s not easy as I don’t have a nearby dealer anymore, I miss being able to buy in person 🙁 .

First Impression:

When these beads first came out, one could see the huge variation between them. Murano glass beads are already varied enough, no two are alike, but when Trollbeads released this collection last Fall, I think even the sales people were having trouble figuring out what was what! From what I’ve seen browsing online, the Rainbow of Luck beads range from a mix of pinks and greyish blue, to pinks with yellow, to dark navy and purple, all covered in glitter of course. I actually doubled up and bought two of them, but now that I’m looking at them I’m doubting that one is an actual Rainbow of Luck, maybe you all can let me know what you think.

Review:

I bought two beads, one with navy and pink and the other with blue and green. I bought these because I was one bead away from finishing my Aurora bracelet  (the only reason I call it that is because I have two faceted Aurora beads on it), and I’ve been buying a lot of blue beads lately. I didn’t have my bracelets with me so I was taking a risk by buying these two beads. I am very pleased with the pink and navy but not as much with the blue and green one as I misjudged the hue, but I still like it though. A quick apology, I intentionally over exposed the images in order to show off the detail on the Rainbow of Luck beads, they weren’t quite coming up otherwise.

Not quite what I had in mind…

I’ve been trying to create a bracelet that features different shades of blue to represent the different shades of the ocean but I’m not being very successful. I thought the blue bead would be a nice addition to my existing bracelet, but I was wrong. However I still like the blue bead a lot, I decided awhile back that I wasn’t going to let matchy-matchiness come between designing a bracelet and that I simply would just make it work. The result is I have a lot of orphan beads but I’m sure one day I’ll know what to do with them.

As with the other beads that were released in the Fall of 2015, they all share one common trait and that is that they are all covered in glitter. I think this is a nice touch as I think it kind of unifies them all. I just can’t believe how different these beads are from each other though, why make them so different in color?

At first glance I thought these two beads were complete opposites, I even thought that the sales person made a mistake and that one of the beads was something else, but after photographing them and seeing them up close and in the sunlight, I was able to see that they do have a small patch where the two beads look almost the same indeed making them both Rainbow of Lucks.

Don’t they look almost identical?

Then you flip them and see the difference!

Isn’t that crazy? This is why I love Trollbeads glass, they are just amazing and so much fun! Here’s one more shot of the beads, as I was editing them I thought the right one looks very close to the online example Trollbeads has on their website, what do you think?

In Conclusion:

I already own the Purity bead, and the Power of Hope bead, the Rainbow of Luck will be the third bead from the Fall collection and I have to say I’m very happy with them. Even though the blue bead is homeless for now, I love looking at it because it reminds me of aerial photographs of rivers going through a jungle or something. I can always wear this on the Ring of Change or on the bangle so I always have options. This bead retails for $34 and I highly suggest you handpick this at a dealer if you can.

I hope you’ve enjoyed this review! Do you happen to own the Rainbow of Luck bead? What does it look like? Don’t forget, you can always post a pic on my Facebook page or tag me on Instagram, I always love bead talk! Until next time, Happy Hunting!

I really like both of those, but especially the one that looks like the stock image. I don’t think you should stay away from reviewing old beads, because there are probably lots of newer collectors like me, who like to find out about previous collections!
