On today’s post I want to talk about my latest acquisition and that is the Trollbeads Shadow Flower pendant. I got this on a whim (as a friend who no longer wanted it sold it to me at a great price!) as I figured I am finally the proud owner of a fantasy necklace and thought why not? I need to start accessorizing my accessory LOL.
I already own the Queen of Heart pendant and also the In Your Heart pendant, and I’ve always liked how the Shadow Flower looked on the fantasy necklace based on photos I see on Trollbeads.net
I’ve also come across some photos with the flower turned the other way around, however when I tried it, it didn’t turn out that great.
Then some friends on Instagram (thanks Amanda and Martha!) suggested I use a stopper, however it still didn’t turn out that great.
I tried using a stopper first then a glass bead but it didn’t fit too well, so I gave up on the stopper and used one glass bead. Still didn’t look good. At this point I just started piling on the beads, and by bead three it looked more like it should but I didn’t like the stack of beads too much. Perhaps I just have to get used to it? Perhaps this isn’t how the Shadow Flower was meant to be used?
Regardless of all of this, I like how the pendant looks on it’s own. With bracelets I have plenty of ideas on how to design them and the more blingy the better, but when it comes to the FN I tend to go more basic. Maybe it’s because I’m not used to it yet, or maybe it’s because I don’t know how to make those awesome creations I see online all the time? Maybe I just like the simplicity of not wearing too much on the fantasy necklace? Do you have this pendant? If so how do you wear it?
All images with my watermark belong to me and cannot be used without giving proper credit, all other images belong to their respective owners such as Trollbeads.
I don’t have this pendant. I think it’s a beautiful piece worn on its own with the pearl or onyx of the FN peaking out.
I agree it looks odd turned the other way up!
I love fantasy necklaces and I always think less is more. It’s probably my personal style but they can end up looking fussy and old fashioned with lots on them. They are also incredibly heavy when loaded up with beads, and I dread to think of the neck damage!!!!
I think simply styled FN’s can be dramatic, classy and beautiful pieces of Jewellery.

Thanks for the input! I completely agree with you, the FN has an understated beauty and it doesn’t need more to make it look good.
I guess now I should just start wearing it instead of fussing with it and trying to dress it up!
I have always been curious about this pendant, but I’m not sure if it would work for me. But, I agree that I think it looks best when it has the chance to be the centre of attention – and it really is gorgeous enough to be the star!
Thanks! I was always curious too, and now that I have it, I agree would you, it doesn’t need much more, it’s gorgeous enough on its own!
I like it the way you had it near the top, with one bead and the pendant. I’m new to the FN world and still trying to figure out what works. I’m also leaning towards just one bead and maybe a pendant on it. So much fun to play with, though!
So I’m not the only one thank goodness! I also feel I’m very new and not sure how to play around with it but I am liking the simplicity of the FN. I’m agreeing with Debbie that perhaps less is more.
I’ve seen this used on a bracelet as well.
I have too, I don’t know though, I feel like it would be a really chunky bead! I have to try it on a bracelet now to see how I like it.
