FYI: Pandora Retirement Wave February 2016

Apparently it’s that time of year again! Pandora has just added some items to their discontinued list and I have to say some of the offerings are surprising, and also the list is relatively short. Please keep in mind that this is a retired list for US based stores, also items can always be added as I still have no idea what prompts Pandora to decide what stays and what goes.

Also this time around it seems that instead of immediately pulling all discontinued items and sending them back to who knows where once they are considered officially retired, Pandora has been selling through the discontinued stock and never officially pulling them. The term discontinued means that the piece of jewelry is no longer being manufactured and therefore stores can no longer place an order for them if a customer wants to buy it, but it’s still technically available if a customer can find it in another store. Retired means all retired pieces of jewelry are pulled from the store’s inventory and shipped back to some HQ somewhere. Most of the list I have compiled since last year have been on the discontinued list, however Pandora is getting ready to officially retire them now so please be advised that the charms below although new to the discontinued list most likely will be pulled from inventory soon.

Here now is the list:

Again I would like to repeat, these items along with my other posts about retirement waves will most likely be going back to Pandora soon, so if you are interested in any of these pieces, please visit your nearest Pandora for more information.

Below now is a new list of newly added items to the discontinued list:

I’m extremely surprised they are pulling the Laurel Leaves, so glad I bought this when I did! I’m going to assume that since the Laurel Leaves are new to the discontinued list, that the will not be sent to retirement right away. Another surprise are the Disney tiaras, but I guess they have to start discontinuing some Disney charms in order to make room for new ones. In case you can’t make them out because the photos are a bit small, the discontinued tiaras are for Ariel, Belle, and Snow White. Again I’m not sure if they will be officially retired now, or if Pandora has discontinued to now sell through their stock before officially retiring them at a later date. Please contact your local Pandora concept store in order to ask them directly as all stores are different.

Another surprise for me is the fact that they are discontinuing the Sacrifice charm, the Carolers and the Ampersand charms. The Sacrifice is a very meaningful charm and I know it sells a lot based on how many people ask for it when I’m in the store shopping. Perhaps Pandora will be releasing a new pave version of the Sacrifice charm? As for the Carolers and the Ampersand, in my opinion if Pandora is pulling these charms because of lack of sales they should wait longer than six months to determine if it’s truly a bad seller.

Please refer to my previous posts to see a full list of all jewelry that will be going back ASAP:

Is there anything on this list that you must have before they sell out? I would shop now as I’ve received word that at least my LD is sending back all discontinued pieces within the next couple of days if they haven’t done so already. Stay tuned for a Pandora haul video as I have acquired the items that have been on my wish list for awhile!

In NA, the retired charms are sent to Minneapolis and are cleaned and repriced and are then shipped out to their many corporate/ Pandora owned stores, where they are sold at 30 to 60% off the original retail price. I hope this clarifies things for you. In effect, Pandora is selling them twice, so good business for Pandora and fun for buyers looking to find retired charms.

As I know, jewelry has very high mark up minimum 300% so Pandora still make money for their retired charms in Outlet. Outlet store carry both regular and retired items. Outlet store has their own promotion plus regular promotion. I pay Canadian $ in Outlet so don’t bother to buy anything from States. If you give them a retired charm list, they will call you when they receive the stock.
