Review: Shooting Star from X Jewellery

Today I will be reviewing one of my favorite pieces from X Jewellery and that is the Shooting Star. I know it’s not a new piece, but it is one of the original links that came out when X Jewellery was first released. Also it feels like forever and a day since I’ve reviewed an X link, so I hope you enjoy.

First Impression:

We all know by now that I LOVE stars, so anything star themed I will most likely buy. This link along with the My Star were instant hits with me, and I do have to admit I didn’t think I would buy multiples of these since I’m not huge on buying multiples, but I couldn’t help it this time. If I can take a small sidebar, I know in the past that I’ve said I don’t like links with huge twists in them but for some reason I don’t mind this one. There are some differences in some of the double links in that some have no twist (like the Protect link), some have a small twist (like the Love link), and others have a full twist, (like the regular plain double links or the Heart and Star link). Here they are so you know what I’m talking about:

Review:

The Shooting Star link is of course a double link, made in sterling silver, it measures 1 and 1/16th inches to be exact or 27 mm. The little star cluster in the middle is very cute and much thicker than the online photo leads you to believe, however I wish they were more obvious, at first glance you can’t make out the stars. You need to carefully examine the link in order to realize what they are. This is the only negative in my opinion that I can see with this link. It is heavy-ish and well made, and because of the exaggerated twist, you can see the stars at every angle when you know what you are looking for. Also the link in real life is more oxidated than what the online picture shows which can be a little misleading.

Here are some photographs of the link in sort of a sequential order, I was trying to show the different angles, however I think I failed miserably:

Here it is next to the Lover’s Bond:

As always I like to use the Lover’s Bond as a standard to all other links since I like the size of it and I use it to compare it to other double links.

Here is the finished bracelet, I have to say I’m very happy with it just the way it is. It has enough two tone elements, as well as lots of the silicone links which in my opinion are a trademark of X:

In conclusion:

This link retails for $63 and as I stated before when I saw the Shooting Star it was love at first sight, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on it, and once I did, I realized I needed to get another one to balance it out. Slowly but surely I ended up getting two My Stars, and then I decided my bracelet was finished. This was my first completed X bracelet, and if you couldn’t tell by now, once I finish a bracelet, I don’t tend to change it much and I usually don’t take them apart.

I hoped you’ve liked this review, and I hope it’s been at least a little helpful in terms of your next X purchase.
