Today I will be reviewing some more pieces from Waxing Poetic. I have been picking up several of their charms lately, this tends to happen to me a lot, once I discover something I tend to splurge like crazy! For this recent acquisition, I picked up the Square Insignia, Under Love’s Wing, and the Favorite Accomplice charms. I really need to get a bracelet soon, I have all these charms, and nothing to wear them on yet! I think I may get the Beholder bracelet, which is a snake chain with different colored pearls on it, it also has an end cap that unscrews and you can remove the pearls and insert the charms in between. I am concerned that the end cap can become unscrewed and that all the charms can fall off, so I may keep doing some research before I take the plunge. If I do, stay tuned for the upcoming review!
I’ll start with the Square Insignia initial “R”:
This charm is supposed to look like a wax seal, like from the olden days where people would use wax to seal their letters then press the wax with a family crest or symbol. I believe this is one of the very first charms that Waxing Poetic came out with, it’s a shame they are retiring it, although I do have to say the new charm that replaced it isn’t bad either. I like the look of it, it is very well made and I almost want to wear it as a pendant instead of charm. It really does look like a wax seal! It is all sterling silver with oxidation, retails for $52 and it is being discontinued.
Next we have the Favorite Accomplice Devoted for Life:
I was very surprised with this charm when I unpacked it, it’s very delicate which I was not expecting. When I went to weight it, it didn’t even register on my digital scale which means it’s less than 1 gram. In the picture you can see how thin it is. I think this one I will plan to wear it as a pendant, since I think it will get beat up very easily and not hold up to my wearing it on the wrist. I can see the circle getting bent or losing it’s shape. I bought this because I like the message it holds, because I consider myself very devoted to my family. This is all sterling silver with some oxidation, and it has two brass “rivets” as details. This charm retails for $51 and is also being discontinued.
And last but not least we come to Under Love’s Wing Halo:
This I think is one of my favorites so far (aside from the R) because I have a fascination with angels and birds, and pretty much anything with feathered wings. I love the idea of having a guardian angel watching over me, and therefore the message on the back of the wing “Watch Over Me” is very fitting. It also symbolized something very personal to me as well, which is why I picked this one up right away! It is sterling silver, with brass accents on the halo, retails for $66 and is also being discontinued if it’s not retired already. I do also have to say that for this collection, each charm has a different price tag, usually all the charms under one collection are the same price, however for this one, they are not. If you check out the Bow and the Crown, they will be $57 and $79. I guess because they all have different brass detailing? Not quite sure why but still just letting everyone else know just in case you are interested.
And there you have it, my growing collection!
If anyone else is interested in starting a Waxing Poetic necklace or bracelet, now is a great time to do so, as since they have just released their Spring collection, they are retiring a lot of the older charms, and once they do that, they go on sale! My preferred retailer is the Lamp Stand, they have great customer service, and they also sell other great brands such as Lenny and Eva! You can also go directly to Waxing Poetic and go to their retired section to see if there is anything you like. I hope you’ve enjoyed this review! Do you have Waxing Poetic charms or a bracelet?
