Review: Big Bow from X By Trollbeads

Hello!  Today I am reviewing the Big Bow link from X by Trollbeads.  I received this as a Christmas gift and I must say it was very disappointing, and really the reason why I started this blog.  I don’t know about you guys, but I live in Northern California, and my closest X retailer is about two and a half hours away.  There is no way for me to be able to go to a brick and mortar store to check out any X at any time.  Not sure if any of you can relate! So when wish listing any of the X links, I am always taking a small chance that these links will look just as good IRL as online.

So Christmas arrives, and my anticipation was high as I went to open one of my first gifts. As I open the packaging I realize that it’s the Big Bow, but I was deeply disappointed as I was expecting it to be about the same size as the Lover’s Bond (especially since the Lover’s Bond is $63 and the bow is $72).

Here are the approximate dimension of the Big Bow:

Approximately 3/4 of an inch (or 7/8ths to be more precise!) or 22mm.  Needless to say when I placed the Big Bow next to the Lover’s Bond, my disappointment was complete.

In Conclusion:

Overall, it is a nice link, very feminine and cute and would’ve been an excellent addition to my bracelet, however it would’ve been much nicer if it were more comparable to the Lover’s Bond in size and without that twist.  The website image makes the bow look much bigger than it really is, also you can see the link does have a twist, but once again in real life the twist is much more apparent. In my opinion this link is better priced at $63 rather than $72 as it’s much smaller than the Lovers Bond and I’m using the Bond as the standard since in my mind I had hoped the Bow would be the same size. I should’ve put the bow next to other links in a bracelet perhaps but I forgot to before I sent it back for an exchange.  Next time!

I hope this review has been helpful to my jewelry loving friends out there.  I know there are no dimensions posted anywhere and because X is still relatively new there are NOT a lot of pictures of completed bracelets that other jewelry fiends can use to try to gauge sizes or use for comparison. What do you guys think?
